Notice to Parents, Coaches and Volunteers

We hope provides all the players with fun and fair competition that makes for lasting memories.

A few issues have come up over the past few seasons which makes this notice necessary. We want avoid future difficulties for coaches, convenors and league executives, by ensuring everyone understands and follows the rules listed below:

1. Players can only play full time on one team within the OHF. We live in an age where registration databases are quickly shared among the hockey partners in the OHF for these and other operational issues. Examples below:

* Players cannot play full time on both a house-league and a select or rep team or 2 house-league teams

* Players cannot register to play in both the CMHA and a neighboring association to play at the same time (ex. Orangeville, Erin, Brampton)

* Players cannot register to play in a girl's league (Orangeville, Brampton) and the CMHA simultaneously

2. All call-ups and AP situations must be arranged through Convenor and or executive member to ensure fairness in selection and do not penalize the call-up's primary team.

3. When a situation exists where a player is moved up an age category for the year, the determination is made first by the league that there is an operational need to do this. It is then determined that the player is able and that the parents are willing to let their child move up. Players do not move up simply because the parents themselves deem the player able.

4. Players in the CMHA can only practice with the team they are registered with. A player cannot join a friend's or sibling's practice to get extra ice-time.

5. Parents cannot provide false information to accomplish any of the above

Breaching these rules may bring about serious sanctions for the coaches and players involved. Some of these sanctions are imposed not only by the CMHA, but backed by the OMHA and OHF. This would affect your child's ability to play in another centre should you consider moving centres to avoid the sanctions.

We have approx. 1600 children playing hockey in the CMHA. The rules noted above ensure fairness of opportunity to all players and not a select few.

Should you have any concerns regarding these rules please send them in writing to the CMHA hockey office and we will respond.
